LPT is the token of the Livepeer video network, whose price surged due to the release of OpenAI SORA.

Livepeer is a decentralized infrastructure provider for video. Traditional video services involve two crucial infrastructures: video transcoding and video delivery. Typically, both tasks are performed by centralized servers. Livepeer is a decentralized video network where anyone can contribute their idle computers. By providing the computational power of their GPUs or CPUs for video transcoding or video delivery, participants can earn rewards in the form of LPT tokens, a process known as LPT mining.

SORA can generate a large amount of video, but without transcoding and delivery, the video cannot be disseminated. As a result, video creators cannot gain influence or income from their videos.

Livepeer Investment Background

In July 2023, Livepeer completed a $20 million second round of additional investment, led by DCG. The first round of investment included venture capital funds such as Coinbase. The total financing reached $51 million.
